me trouvera devant lui.

I am the Hellene, oh hyperborean giants,
Half saltiness, half light
My women, goddesses of beauty and wisdom
and my sons, Leonidas and Socrates.
You still worship my Parthenon,
while stealing my words from the rich holds of Homer.
My Thermopylae gave birth to your West
and Xerxis, the satrap,
who is longing again to taste the Attica figs in a few days,
will find me in his way.
Do not look at me now that I am stooping,
I’ll soon raise my head in the tragic landscape of the Mediterranean
that has showed to you moderation
and to me the strength of light.

e i miei figli, Leonidas e Socrate.
